I used this once and moved it late to add charcoal it broken when I placed it on the other grate. Extremely brittle. Would not buy again.

So I have been grilling on cast iron grates for a very long time. The only thing the KJ Classic 3 didn't come out of the box with was cast iron grates my opinion. I ordered one to start but immediately had to have two. I ordered the second. Now I have four grates multiple set up capabilities and a sear is best on cast. Thanks KJ I love them.

Gets the char marks on the meat perfectly. Allows you to split the grill inside to fit the food that is being cooked. An adaptable appliance.

This is a must-have item. Cast iron cooking grates are a huge upgrade over the stainless steel ones. For a grill at this price point, this part really ought to be included. But oh well, it's not expensive anyway so it's a no-brainer to buy it and use it. The fact that it comes in two parts is a huge plus, as it allows you the ability to add more charcoal while cooking. One minor, minor issue: this cast iron grate rests stably on the divide-and-conquer rack, but it is turned about 20 degrees or so relative to the rack, so if the rack is positioned straight in the grill, the midline of this grate will be angled about 20 degrees from where you'd want it to be . This is because of the nunber and spacing of the grates. Exceedingly minor issue with an easy fix: just turn the rack to position the greet where you want it.

From a purely functional point of view it is no better or worse than the stainless steel grate that comes standard with the kamado. From a presentation point of view it makes great sear lines in your meat. If you get a chance to buy it on sale then go for it, otherwise maybe put your money towards a different accessory.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
