Great foe searing steaks
Gulfport, MS

I like it for locking in juices, but it just will not get hot enough to put a char on steaks without overcooking them. I'm changing it back to the regular burner unless I can find an aftermarket one that actually does the job.

I'm not reviewing this item but I'm reviewing BBQ Guys customer service which is horrible. I ordered a Kamodo Joe grill from them and received an email telling me that it was delayed. I talked to their customer service on a Monday and they said they would look into it and they'd respond within 72 hours. I hadn't heard anything on Friday so I called back and they said they would call me by the end of the day. No response. I called today, Saturday, and received an automatic answer that they're closed till Monday. Two times they said they would get back to me and still nothing. Totally unacceptable service. My advice is to stay away from these guys!

Love the way it starts my steaks cooking.

This addition is great, but it adds a third step to my steak cooking process...Sear, Smoke, and a cowboy butter finish over Flames...perfection!

Love the heat this burner puts out. This is a replacement searing burner for the Blaze grill I purchased 4 years ago.

Don't waste your money.. My infrared burner lasted less than 16 months and it was not covered by the warranty. I bought an extended warranty for the grill bit it doesn't cover the burner. Don't buy from Bar-Gue Guys.

It did the job for seering, but the cover on it disintegrated after about a year of use. It still burns though. I'll buy another one and hope it lasts longer.

Works well for just over a year then falls apart. Not the same quality as the stainless steel Blaze burners.

Second infrared burner I've had and this one struggles to light the tiles and make noise at any temp. It will intermittently work but then goes back to making noise. See attached videos.
Questions & Answers
Hi Mark. Yes, when using the Blaze Infrared Burner, the lid of the grill should remain open.
Asked by Mark | Answered by WesleyHi ToddB. Please call our Support team at 877-743-2269. They will help you trouble shoot the issue with the Blaze Infrared Burner
Asked by ToddB | Answered by WesleyWhen you first start cooking your steak over the infrared burner, the juices from the steak start coming to the top. When you flip it, the juices fall, land on the burner and whoosh! Mine does that. It's like throwing water on a hot skillet. It's normal.
Asked by Ken | Answered by slwbaytownMy IR burner does the same thing. I also find that it happens in windy conditions SC
Asked by Ken | Answered by ifmsHi Louis, thanks for asking. If you haven't found something that reach behind the burner while it is installed, you may have to remove it to properly clean it. If you have any other questions please message us on Live Chat or call 877-743-2269 and we'll be happy to help.
Asked by lois | Answered by HunterHi Mario! There have not been any recent updates made to the searing burner. However, many times when there is a report of rusting there is also evidence of a lack of maintenance. It is recommended to perform a burn-off after each use and to keep the burner as clean as possible. If the burner is not going to be used for an extended period of time, it is recommended that it be removed and stored. Finally, if the cage-like panel that covers the ceramic does wear away, it is not essential to the burner performance and the burner will continue to function normally. Hope this helps!
Asked by Mario | Answered by TiffanyHi Jeff! The first thing we suggest is to check if the valve assembly is clean and does not have any debris blocking the gas flow. If the issue persists, please contact us through our Live Chat or give us a call at 877-743-2269 and we'll be happy to help further!
Asked by Jeff | Answered by HunterHi Matt, you can still use the warming rack with the searing burner equipped. You'll most likely want to avoid placing food on the rack directly above the searing burner while it's in use, but the rack should not warp and you can still utilize the rest of the rack for indirect cooking as usual.
Asked by Matt | Answered by RosaGreat question! A standard burner would be better for grilling with a pizza stone. The high heat of the infrared burner and the heat retention of the pizza stone could very quickly burn your food and possibly damage the infrared burner.
Asked by Psylacus | Answered by SethHi Joey! It's suggested that you only use one searing burner on any Blaze grill.
Asked by JoeyM | Answered by EmilyHi, Carl. We recommend installing the sear burner at the same time as removing all of the cotter pins in all of the burners on a built in model. Those are there to make sure the burners stay in place while shipping, so there's no need to reinsert them after the grill has been installed. Removing and installing shouldn't be too difficult, but here's a guide for installation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOod79pER-A
Asked by Carl | Answered by EmilyIf it helps here is a video that shows how to install the sear burner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOod79pER-A

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
