Cart completely rotted out

Grill is now about 4 years old. Burner have been replaced once but same issue as others. Everything battery powered no longer works. LP tank holder and bottom of grill have completely collapsed. Door hinges have rotted off and doors have fallen off. Handles have bubbles all over. The grills are great but carts are terrible. My older non stainless Webber help up better. Called to try to get some repair parts parts for the cart but they said they aren't available. So I settles for some new burners just to keep it going a bit longer before it has to be thrown away.

My Second Summit

I'm basing this review on a grill we USED to own, not the new one since I haven't had the new one long enough to form an opinion. However, it's essentially the exact same grill we inherited 7 years ago from the owners of our former home, with perhaps a few very minor updates. I was very pleased with that grill (large surface area, good heat control, relatively easy to clean), and from what I've seen so far of the new one I'll have little to complain about. Assembly was relatively simple and connecting to the natural gas stub on the patio was painless (despite a balky bit of pipe). All burners fired up the first time and I'm looking forward to putting the grill to work! My only words of caution to others are: - When it's new the interior is all shiny stainless steel. That won't last. - Don't forget there are batteries involved that will need to be replaced from time to time. - The "flavorizer bars" (the metal bars over the burners) WILL corrode and need to be replaced. - Cleaning the large grease catch pan is a messy business. I tried lining ours with foil, but the foil just glued itself to the pan making an even bigger mess. And don't forget to empty out the smaller drip pan. I researched other grills in this size range and I still think this is probably the best bang for the buck. Happy grilling!

Great: For about 3 years!

I loved this grill for about the first three years I owned it. Then it stated dying. All the lighting went out, as did the propane level device. Anything powered by the battery module stopped functioning with no clear path to repair it. Shortly after that the infrared burner essentially became a solid block of inoperable corrosion with no way of repairing it. At year four the lower section started rusting. Rusting bad. In fact, "rotting" may be a better word. After seven years, the bottom panel of the thing is about 80% gone. The front handles and accessory hangars that like it might have been chromed are bubbling off and flaking. The hinges that hold the doors on rusted off a year ago, so I can't grill on windy days. I kept the grill covered, but it just went down hill from corrosion.

Poor quality

I have owned Weber gills for 30 years. Each time I bought a grill I "upgraded". This upgrade resulted in the doors not shutting and staying shut after a few years. The knobs and starters are problems. The seer station rusted out and now has a gaping hole. The grill isn't worth the money and Weber certainly doesn't stand by its products in the same way they used to. Sadly, I can no longer recommend Weber.

Full service grill

Spacious, allows for multiple heat areas on grill. Infrared plus rotisserie results in moist, browned meats. The smoker is not overwhelming the natural flavors but brings them out. Delight to prepare a full meal on. Love it.

I love the grill I wish the cover came with the grill. Not saying to give it for free just added it in the price not to nickel and dime us.

Expert Review

The Skinny:

  • Weber's top-of-the-line gas grill
  • Control knob lighting
  • Snap-Jet ignition for reliable startup
  • 9mm stainless steel rod cooking grids
  • Heavy duty stainless steel

Things We Love:

Weber Summit Gas Grills are Weber's top-of-the-line gas grill. The Summit's cooking system (burners, flavorizer bars, and beefy cooking grids) are all stainless steel. Along with the durable cooking system, there are several convenient features not found on other Weber gas grills that separate the Summit as the best.

The Weber Summit includes an attached Grill Out handle light that automatically illuminates your grill for easy nighttime cooking. I also really love the reliable start up using the Snap-Jet ignition since each different burner has its own flame throwing ignition. Another feature that takes convenience to the next level is the LED propane tank scale, which lets you know exactly where you stand on fuel at all times.

For minimizing flare-ups, the Summit's Stainless Steel Flavorizer bars can be found directly above the burners. They shield the burners by catching drippings and turning them to smoke, adding flavor to your food. Weber pioneered the Flavorizer bar in 1984, and since then they've proven to do their job extremely well, which is why they're still preventing flare-ups on all Weber gas grills today!

All Summit freestanding and grill center models include a 12,000 BTU side burner, which comes in handy if you need to warm up a side dish or a sauce. Additionally, when the side burner's lid is shut, it sits flush against its surface, which adds even more shelving space to the grill cart. The Summit 470 and 670 models include three additional features; a 10,600 BTU rear burner and rotisserie kit, a 10,600 BTU searing station for that extra high heat when you need it, and a 6,800 BTU wood chip smoker box with a dedicated burner.

With over 50 years in business, Weber Grills customer service is as good as it gets. They have a 10 year warranty on the grill body and on the burners. They have reputable service and quickly handle any service or replacement part situations.

Things To Consider:

The burner housing and the rear of the grill, even on the stainless steel models, are constructed of porcelain-enameled steel which is not as durable as other all stainless steel grills in the price range.

You'll Like This Grill If:

You want Weber's top-of-the-line grill that's powered by an all stainless steel cooking system with practical features that make grilling a breeze.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
