The XR-40 Wireless Digital Thermometer from Maverick features new, improved technology that works faster and from farther away than before. Monitor the temperature of your food up to 500 feet or 160 meters away without worry. An alert will tell you if you have gone out of range or lost signal from the wireless transmitter. The XR-40 features new INSTA-SYNC technology that guarantees faster connecting, reduced interference, better packet transmission, reduced connection drops, and simpler user interfaces. An improved LCD screen lets you see your readouts easier, day or night. The two included stainless steel meat probes are rated for up to 716 degrees F, and temperature measurement can be switched between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Conveniently monitor food, the temperature of a grill, or two of either. Choose either probe attached to the transmitter to change the settings for it. Select between 15 available meat settings and doneness levels to cater to your specific cook. Easily set a timer, or a desired temperature and be notified when your food or grill is ready to go. I bought this to help me monitor a smoked brisket on a Weber Kettle. I used one probe for grill temp, and one for meat temp. There are two grill grate clips included, which allows you to place the grill probe about a half-inch above the grate - that worked great, with one caveat: I was using the snake charcoal method (which worked amazingly well!), and as the burning coals made their way around the grill and approached the probe the grill temp jumped. Once I relocated the probe the temp normalized again. The tip: make sure you locate the probe so that it isn't directly above the burning coals. The audible alarm kept me focused on what was going on without having to pay close attention. The cook took about 8 hours, and close to the end the low battery icon appeared. The included batteries probably aren't high capacity - I'll replace them with beefier batteries before the next cook. I enjoyed using this product, and recommend it for sure. It doesn't have a phone app, but I didn't miss it.

Once the company replaces the probe I will update this comment as the rest of the features are great and my batteries haven't needed replacement on 5 cooks already and some pork shoulders which over nighters

Use it on once and it worked ok. Second time it was not reading 1 probe at all then 5-6 hours into a brisket the other probe went out.

First time use was perfect. Second time the themocouples quit. Readings were way off on the first and the secondary probe quit reading

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
