Looking Good, and Tasting Good
We recently ordered this Kitchen Aid grill, and grilled on it for the first time last weekend. First of all, the service from BBQ Guys was great. Second, the grill definitely looks like a quality built-in, and the food we grilled was delicious.

Advice: Spend $300 more elsewhere for a much better grill
Thought it was a real bargain for the first couple years. Then the quality showed, as parts began failing. Must adapt generic replacement parts as needed, since product is no longer made or supported by KitchenAid.

Warning: Natural Gas Conversion Not Simple
If you are buying this to use as a natural gas grill, be warned, the conversion from Propane is not super straightforward. You basically have to take the grill apart replacing orifices on every burner including the searing burner. Had I known this, I would have purchased a grill that shipped as natural gas. With that said, we haven't used the grill yet, so I can't comment on the performance, but it looks to be of nice quality.

Do not purchase this grill! It is a safety hazard
The first time my husband and I tested the grill after its installation, an electrical fire occurred between the ignitor and burners. We smelled the wires burning, saw smoke, and we actually saw flames coming from behind the burner panel. From the moment I called KitchenAid support right after the fire occurred, I detected an unwillingness on the part of NexGrill to take responsibility for what is most certainly a design flaw in this model. NexGrill asserted that the problem was improper ventilation, which resulted in the grill overheating. There *was* sufficient ventilation, and the grill could not possibly have overheated, since the fire occurred almost immediately after I tried to turn on the burners for the very first time. Luckily, Amazon provided me with a full refund for the grill and paid to have it returned to them for their internal review of the problem. In contrast to NexGrill, they took this problem quite seriously. After researching this model further, I found several other reviews that described similar problems. This grill is a safety hazard and should be removed from the market. We paid almost double the cost for a new grill, but we now realize the old saying is true: You get what you pay for.

The Skinny:

  • Great price point
  • Well-known brand name
  • Easy to use ignition system

Things We Love:

KitchenAid Gas Grills combines an attractive price point with some of the specs and features often found on premium-priced grills. It is made of almost all 304 stainless steel which is great. KitchenAid grills are made by NexGrill who licenses the KitchenAid name from the Whirlpool Corporation.

The 30-inch grills have four 12,000 BTU burners and the 36-inch grills have four 10,000 BTU burners. The burners on both models are constructed of high-grade 304 stainless steel, which is a plus. Both built-in grill models include a rear rotisserie burner though the rotisserie kit is sold separately. The KitchenAid 36-inch Gas Grill includes an 18,000 BTU infrared searing burner for steakhouse quality searing, which is not typically found on grills in this price range.

The Even-Heat System consists of the stainless steel burners, angled flame tamers as well as enhanced grates. These all work together, to distribute consistent heat across the entire surface of the grill. It also aids in reducing flare-ups.

Another plus is the easy-to-use electronic ignition. The nicely designed, built-in hood thermometer is easy to read and helps you gauge the amount of heat inside the grill.

Things To Consider:

The cooking grids are stainless wrapped steel, not solid stainless steel. Once the wrap wears off, the raw steel underneath can rust. The natural gas (NG) grills need to be converted using the included conversion kit. This should be done by a licensed plumber. This takes some time, and may create an added cost for more of your plumber's time. While it’s nice that the burners are warrantied for 10 years, the other stainless components are only warrantied for 3 years, and all other parts only 1 year.

KitchenAid doesn't offer a full line of outdoor kitchen accessories, so you'll need some universal-style accessories to round out your outdoor kitchen.

You'll Like This Grill If:

You want an affordable, entry level, built-in grill for your outdoor kitchen.

In video, is say it comes with the sear burner is that true.

Hi Geno. No, this grill only has 4 tubular burners. The grill in the video is a 5-burner, which includes the infrared sear burner.

I replaced my Cal Flame 30" grill with the 30" kitchen aide. There is about a 2 1/2 inch gap in the back of the grill. Is there a back splash to close any gaps.

Hi Kelan! Unfortunately, we do not have anything that would close the gap. You would need to reach out to a local contractor or your local building store. Give us a call at 877-743-2269 if you have any further questions!

Question:
Ours came with a natural gas hook up, and all propane parts. Is the 'Nat' gas converter Ok to use on the propane system?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Thanks for asking. You'll want to replace any of the propane fittings with the natural gas fittings before trying to connect and operate the grill with the natural gas line, otherwise you could experience issues or damages with the parts and grill.

Question:
Can it be set in a wood frame table?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Steve. Gas grills should only be installed using non-flammable components. This grill could not be used safely in an installation containing a wooden frame or components without the use of an insulated grill jacket. Unfortunately, an insulated grill jacket is not available for KitchenAid grills currently.

Question:
How is this grill for quick meals like a steak or hamburgers
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Great question! This grill features four 304 stainless steel burners that produce 12,000 BTUs each, and it heats up quickly because of that. It also features a continuous electronic ignition, which means you can light your burners instantly. It offers plenty of space if you need to cook for several people at a time.

When Will My Item Arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3–5 business days. If your item or order is large, it may ship via one of our third-party freight carriers, which deliver from semi trucks with lift gates. Freight delivery is much more complicated than standard parcel shipping — you must schedule a drop-off time, be present for the delivery, and move items from the curb to your residence, among other differences. Sound stressful? If you prepare in advance with our guide to freight delivery, it doesn’t have to be.

We strongly encourage reading the entire freight delivery guide, but here’s a quick snapshot of what you need to be ready for when you order a large package:

  • Your freight carrier will call you to schedule a delivery window of about 4–8 hours
  • You’re required to be physically present at the specified delivery location during the scheduled window
  • Freight shipments are carried in semi trucks, which have lift gates to assist with unloading
  • Freight deliveries are dropped off at the curb and no further — not up the driveway, not the porch, not the garage, and most definitely not the backyard — so it’s on you to transport packages to their intended location
  • For an easier time hauling items to your home or backyard, arrange for at least 2 helpers to be on standby during your delivery window
  • You must sign for the shipment to indicate that you’ve accepted the delivery

Again, we recommend reading our entire breakdown of freight delivery so you can become familiar with the process. Trust us when we say that getting caught off guard with the strict requirements of freight delivery can lead to a whole lot of headaches.

Most companies charge a restocking fee. We just don't do business that way.

Message to our customers: Like all retailers and manufacturers, we’re currently experiencing well-publicized supply-chain issues and steel shortages that have caused some orders to be delayed. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences arising from this situation, and we assure you we’re making every effort to solve these problems with our vendors and logistical partners.

So, why are some orders being affected? Major ports around the world are still operating at reduced capacity because of COVID-19 restrictions — on average, container boats sit at port for about 3 weeks before being unloaded. Combine these shipping inefficiencies with a scarcity of natural resources, and virtually every industry has been crippled to some degree. Yet we acknowledge that it’s our duty to meet these challenges head-on and work toward solutions so you can enjoy more time outdoors with the people you love. We appreciate your patience as we strive to smooth out our supply chain, and we thank you for choosing us for your grilling and outdoor living needs.
