Kamado Joe has partnered with Desora, a tech company specializing in smart kitchen software, to create the iKamand. The iKamand is a smart BBQ controller that gives you full control of your Kamado Joe all from your smart device. The device attaches to the bottom vent of your kamado and controls the airflow in your grill with the iKamand app. From the app, you can start, stop, monitor and change your cook with ease. Grill or smoke using your own temperature and cook time, or choose from a variety of recipes included with the app. When an iKamand recipe is chosen, the cook time and temperature is automatically loaded to cook your food perfectly. The app also features constantly updated content, such as videos, tutorials and posts that will keep your kamado grillmastery at its peak. The iKamand starts up quickly and operates quietly. The device is also designed to hold up to four (4) temperature probes and to be weather resistant. All metal components are made of stainless steel. This model fits Kamado Joe Classic grills.

I would buy this product again.This is a great tool to control smoker temperature and watch meat temperature. I've used it 4 times and it works better for me each time. It takes the guesswork work out of draft control. You can trust it in wind or no wind conditions. Actually you can leave the house and monitor it on your phone. An essential if up northI purchased the version I and it failed the first cook BUT Kamado Joe replaced the whole setup with the version II. Much better construction with a back draft flap and no manual slide damper. Plus the new directions make it much easier to get setup. If you have to put on boots and trudge through snow or rain to get to your smoker this is a wondrous thing. Light grill, stoke fire with unit while staying dry, dial down top vent, wait to stabilize and get coals uniform while staying dry, put on meat, wait for completion sound WHILE STAYING DRY! A few thoughts: I purchased a 12 volt DC extension cord, on-line, so the transformer wall plug can stay under cover when raining or snowing. I cut a small piece of waterproof canvas which I hang over the unit to ensure I don't have to test its water-tightness! If you do the push notifications onto your phone - I saved the number into my contacts and put a custom ringtone in so I don't miss it texting me at night. Also added it as a Favorite so when my phone goes into Do Not Disturb mode the call will still alert me if I run low on charcoal or it finishes early! The con - I wish it had heavy duty probes like ThermoWorks uses - seals and spring strain reliefs and longer probes- before you ask - different size plugs | Was This Helpful? | |
Works fantastic to hold a tempI was fortunate to buy this and have two software updates come through the first week I owned it. Many people have complained about it not holding temps constant due to a yo-yo affect. With the latest software updates mine is now rock solid now. It can hold the temp consistent for hours and hours. Couple of tips, 1) bring the initial grill up to temp without using the iKamand. I still find this function to be too fussy. If I don't adjust the temp down way early it will overshoot the desired temp and then struggle to even it out. So now I just fire up the grill the old way and get it close to temp. 2) I mounted the temp probe on the Kamado Joe temp probe. It reads slightly lower than the Kamado Joe probe so I set for a temp slight lower because I'm trusting the Kamado Joe temp probe as my guide. By setting the cook temp just slight lower it keeps the kettle at the perfect temp, no issues. | Was This Helpful? | |

Warning - app and all support have been discontinued!As of 7/4/23, it appears that the app (required to use almost all functionality of this device) has been pulled from the Apple App Store. Additionally, the server for the app data (if you actually had the app prior to it getting pulled) is no longer operating. DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE, it is a brick until KJ fixes this issue, and from what I'm reading, they might not fix it at all. | Was This Helpful? | |
