I am disappointed with the k22 pit boss. It has a cheap aluminum top vent and bottom vent and does not control temperature well. As a result Pitt Boss gets to hot and burns food. Very hard to control temperature. I cooked a 9 lb. butt, followed instructions wanted to smoke it for 10 to 12 hours. It was almost burnt and dry in 5 hours. Not much smoke flavor. I put a lot of hardwood charcoal and wood on fire, and the fire burnt out in 5 hours. I wish i had spent more and gotten a better grill with a sturdier top and bottom vent. I have smoked on it 3 times and each time i have burnt my meat.
I have owned the grill since end of May 2016. Easy to assemble and everything fit like it should. Got a cover when I purchased it from Costco. Within 4 months the hinge bolts constantly need tightening as they back off with every opening of the lid. The side Bamboo panels and handle have molded within 6 months and the fix for this as I have to sand the molded panels myself as this is not covered under warranty. Would I recommend it to someone, I would if they get a good price. I haven't had it a year so I am not sure what to expect for future.
It is every easy to start and quick to heat. I use lump charcoal and a fire starter brick and close lid with all vents open. Within 5 min BBQ is ready for us. You forget how amazing food taste from a non-gas grill. So far I have slowed cooked a pork butt, bbq steaks/chops/ribs and smoked salmon. I purchased my grill at Costco.
I initially planned to purchase the big green egg but was turned off by the considerably higher price. This Pit Boss grill is perfect for my family's needs. I am mastering the long slow smoking techniques as well as the faster charring and bar-b-cuing. Love this versatility. The only downside that I see (and this is not specific to this grill but all ceramic grills) is that they are quite heavy to maneuver- so purchasing a stand or table for it is a must. Also, there is quite a bit of a learning curve in adjusting times and temperatures for foods. In other words- don't use this grill for the first time at your annual 4th of July family picnic!
Bought my grill at Costco last year. First thing I noticed was that it didn't find with the heat deflector. Ordering was easy but it should have come with the grill. I see that the current version sold by Costco does include that now, and price is adjusted accordingly. Overall, very happy but see some things that would change if I could. The bottom grill is hinged so you can add wood to the fire. With the heat deflector in place, this really doesn't work well and the grill suits directly on the heat deflector. So you have to use the raised grill to get meat off of the deflector. This is fine, unless you are cooking something big, like a turkey or full brisket. The raised grill works, just reduces the amount of space you have to cook. I've turned the heat deflector over to provide some more space, but the hinged grill doesn't sit right. I'm working on a homemade fix but really shouldn't have to; should be designed better. Also, the to and bottom vents are pretty loose, not a tight fit. this is important when trying to dial in a temp range. Like anything, takes some time to understand what the allowances are. Mr grill has the wood tables, which quickly discolored in the weather. I use the cover, but that seems to promote mildew in the wet, humid weather. Newer versions have a plastic trex-like material.
I bought this grill about 9 months ago. It holds a temperature low or high and has great features. All at less than half the price of a big green egg. You will need to get an electronic temperature gauge as the one that comes with it is very inaccurate and not usable, thus 4 vs 5 stars.
Bought this Grill Last spring through a warehouse club. Hands down the best deal out there.
I have had this grill for a year and I love it. I am an old school smoker but love the results from this grill. Plus you can grill, bake and roast in it.
Great grill at a lesser price than the big brand names. I've had mine for two years and it's still running strong.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
