It works and saves you charcoal and time to cool your Kamado down

The charcoal basket is a great addition for improving airflow without ash blocking up the grate so it would get 5 stars, but one gripe is that the KBJ charcoal basket doesn't fit into the KBJ II so that the diffuser plates can then sit flat and snugly on top of it due to the hooks it comes with. The hooks aim to hang off the flexible cooking rack to enable the ash basket to be easily lifted out with it, however with the charcoal basket resting on the bottom of the ceramic firebox the hooks of the basket then stick out above where they should. The hooks sticking out stop the diffuser plates sitting flat. I have seen people then laying the diffuser plates on top of the KJ accessory rack but that's not what its meant for nor what I want as I need that for a drip tray to sit above the diffuser and below the grill rack. Reading other review threads it seems people saw off the hooks or mod them somehow. I accept it may then be harder/messier to get it out, and I'm OK with that and going to see what I can do to mod first (bend the hooks to be lower) before hacksaw as last resort. OK, no chance of blending the hooks, so hacksawed them off and fits perfectly now. Note: this is likely also so for the KBJ I as well as KBJ II (which I have) - it may not be the case for the KBJ III which appears to be deeper (not sure tho').

Couldn't wait to do a review to share my experience. Just received my basket yesterday. The charcoal basket exceeds my expectations. It weights approximately 8.6 pounds and will potentially last me for years. Really appreciate the packaging from Kamado Joe and BBQ Guys. The basket was boxed in styrofoam by Kamado and boxed again by by BBQ Guys. Thank you for a great bbq accessory.

The instructions on how to install and the proper way to empty the basket are weak. But then again we live in the world of YouTube!

A little pricy, but it is nicely built. I wasn't sure I'd use the divider, but it has turned out to be very useful.

Gotta tell you, this thing is awesome. I have a 7yr old Joe, and originally just wanted new side tables (also nice upgrades). But this basket is a game changer. It definitely helps regulate airflow by keeping the coals off the air holes. The best is the next cook. Just lift it up and sift out all the ash. Warning: it comes with a coal divider (haven't used) so now I'll probably buy some half moon plates for better zone management.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
