Great Grill. Very Happy with this purchase.

I shopped around while planning my outdoor kitchen and was ready to purchase a Bull Brand Grill . After going online and reading many reviews, the customer service "negatives" for the Bull Brand was the tipping point. The Lion was less money and they had a promotion with lots of accessories to sweeten the deal. The delivery was smooth (I ordered the doors, sink and fridge too ) . The week after I finished installing it , I had a customer appreciation party with 50 guests and cranked up the Lion and grilled up some great Rib Eyes with the searing burner. That was April 2016 and since then I have done rotisserie chickens , briskets (with smoker chip holder) and many other meats and veggies. I bought the ceramic flame tamers and I like them, although I have not used the grill without them so I cannot contrast. The back few inches of the grill is hotter but I put thicker cuts or the "well done" meats to the back. After several months, I cleaned the grill and noticed the searing burner had a small tear in the mesh cover. I called and they shipped me a new one at no charge. I cannot compare other grills at this level and price since this is the highest-end grill I have ever owned. But I never thought there was a big difference between the higher-end grills , but I was wrong. I think this grill is a great value and I highly recommend you get the searing burner

The Grill for the rest of our life

We purchased this grill for our retirement and we were tried of cheap "throw-away" grills. This grill was a substantial investment that appears to be well worth the purchased price. Every area of the grill was thought about by professional cooks including the dual wall cover (great in snow season), griddle, solid cast burners, and rotary spit. The ignition system works extremely well and the tethered match holder is a great touch. The removable tray catches grease and chunks. Every time I remove the tray, it brings back memories of our Viking stove. The lights are top notch. This grill is substantial in strength and weight. We keep it in the garage and move it outside for usage. It takes some effort to lift it out of the garage. This spring we will be installing a little more concrete to provide easy rolling to our favorite BBQ location (out of the north wind). Like any gas grill, it takes some time to understand the heat levels. So far, we've mastered rare steaks and pork chops with beautiful char lines. Chicken crisps up nicely. Hamburgers and sausages are a snap. The only two negatives are the stainless steel grills flex up slightly when hot and the burners output is a little high. The flexing occurs predominantly over the char burner (option). It doesn't affect the operation but is simply noticeable. The high burner output cooks food well but does not appear suitable for low temp operation like BBQ ribs. Even with a single burner on low, the minimum temperature seems to be about 350F.

Great grill with modification

I've had my 32" Lion for 3 months now and am finally able to produce good food. By way of background, I had a Weber Genisis for 20 years, which was a fantastic grill, so I am comparing my new Lion to the Weber. When I first used my new Lion, I had the same flame up and charring issues mentioned in many of these reviews. I was frustrated with the grill, however, I didn't have a choice to switch because it's a built in. I went on a mission to figure out how to use this grill and get the same results as my Weber. I tried upgrading the grill to the ceramic inserts, but they weren't any better. I'm not an engineer, but comparison to my Weber showed that the Weber flame bars sit lower from the grill/cooking surface and has two overlapping rows of flame tamers compared to one row on the Lion. Nothing can be done to the Lion to lower the flame manifolds or add additional flame tamers (it's a design issue which seems to be present on many of the highend grills like Bull, Lynx, Twin Eagle, etc. ). I did a bunch research and found out about "Grill Grates" (easy to find on the internet). Note: I am not trying to market their product, just sharing what I learned because I was frustrated with the stock grill. Grill Grates have number of features that improve the result, but the one I found most helpful is the small holes that prevent the flames from reaching the food (IMO, charring ruins the meat). I have also learned to use more indirect heat when cooking. I get the perfect grill marks from the Grill Grates with direct heat, but then move off direct heat to finish the cooking process (the double lined hood of the grill retains the needed heat). Since adopting these changes, I can leave my food on the grill unattended like I used to do with my Weber and turn out perfect steaks or other food. Grill Grates are also less expensive than the Lion ceramic inserts, so try them first !

3 month use review

Have had installed for 3 months - and used twice a week on estimate - and say an amateur in reality, but love to cook out. (Did the full kitchen setup and pavillion outside) love it. I spent some time comparing the key component and ended up on this Lion 32inch. Stylish and nice definitely. Like the extra components (Used rotisserie a couple of times) LOVE LOVE the griddle that comes with it and lights built in. Complaint would have to be the uneven cooking though. The far back and far side (either side) are certainly the hot zones. It will actually cook probably twice as fast as the middle burners which is consistent on both sides. For that I have to drop it 1.5 stars and rate 3.5 (which I can't - so gave it a 4.) Being that the main purpose is a solid cooking unit to cook even and throughout - that's a big downer. I work around it, but can be challenging with a bigger tenderloin or ribs as you have to plan accordingly. Pro's good price, well made and nice extras.

I'm sorry for the issues you've been having with your grill not being able to turn down low enough. I wanted to let you know that we've recently created a video on how to adjust the low flame turn down on your Lion grill. I hope this helps you achieve lower temperatures on your grill. You can watch the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLm5PUHT7eEjpn3uTFAH1DlPpTheQMBjQD&v=kEfHPI8Yo18

Awesome grill

We grill 200 days a year, best grill I've ever had. Have used the ceramic & charcoal trays with great success. Excellent materials & construction; I would expect this grill to last 15 to 20 years easily.

Looks great, works poorly

I am sorry to say that I think that most other reviewers are just praise happy people and actually don't use their grills on a regular basis. After doing some extensive research and taking the recommendation of three bbqguys employees (including a manager) I ordered the Lion. It has great features but not too many bells and whistles that can break or fail. When it arrived I was very excited and couldn't wait to get grilling. Before I get to the grilling part of my review, I should state that the grill is well made, easy to assemble, has great parts and if it worked well would easily get 5 stars. It should be noted that a spring assisted hood would be nice because it is heavy, but otherwise a great showpiece. Now the bad. I have used the grill approximately 50 times in the few months that I have it set up. I have used it for cooking everything except rotisserie. I keep my grill grates clean, the grill seasoned and every time I go to bbq I hope and pray that it goes better than the previous attempts. My grill was ordered with the ceramic flame tamers which I figured would help with low heat retention for slow and low cook sessions. These are a joke and do absolutely nothing except maybe increase the amount of flareups. This site doesn't have the option to post pics, but I too some with the burners on the lowest setting and everything gets engulfed in flames. I actually can only cook with the top open because with all burners on low, the grill goes up to 500 degrees. I tried lowering the gas flow amount and still it is too hot to cook anything reasonably on the surface except in the cold spots. The surface heating is so uneven that I can hockey puck a burger within inches of a burger cooked to medium rare. If I could send it back I would. I have a Coleman camping grill that we use for tailgaiting that I have been using. It was $200 and cooks 10x better than the grill that costs 10 more. I gave the grill 2 stars because primarily it is a grill not a show piece and because technically it does grill food. If I could send it back I wouldn't hesitate. Simply put, look elsewhere.

Not as I expected

I'm one of those guys that only writes a review if I come across a product that's either really awesome, or really terrible. Well, here I am. I recently purchased a home that had a built-in grill. The existing grill was falling apart, so I decided to replace it and thought I had made a lifetime investment with the Lion L75000. Unfortunately I've been disappointed. I've had the grill for about 75 days, and I'd guess I've used the grill about 40 of those. My last grill was a Weber Genesis. It was a fantastic grill. I'm not a professional griller, but I gained a reputation among friends and family as always serving nearly perfectly grilled food. I'm militant when it comes to cooking temps and times, and I hate overcooking anything. You want medium-rare? You got it. The Weber had controllable, even heat that was consistent. Now enter the Lion L75000. Installation went ok. I had to build a bushing out of plate steel because the grill is actually less than 32" wide, and my slot is a little bigger than 32". No biggie. The first thing I noticed about the grill during the first use... the heat is not even at all. Hot spots here, cold spots there. It's very challenging to lay a piece of food on the grill and get any kind of even heat, unless you lay it directly along the length of a burner. The heat varies from left to right, and also from front to back. After all these weeks of use I still haven't figured it out. The second thing I noticed... huge flames! If your food has the slightest oil or grease, expect to have almost instant flames under the food. Just putting a little oil on the grill surface (to reduce sticking) results in flames. Try cooking a lean burger... constant flames during the cooking process. A ribeye? You probably won't have any hair left on anything below your elbow. I'm adding some humor here, but don't misunderstand... I'm being 100% serious this problem. In my opinion, the flames are the #1 problem with this grill. I even purchased 2 sets of the ceramic "Flame Tamers". These are an option from Lion... and an expensive one at that. I only bought 2, because I wanted to compare 2 burners with and 2 burners without. The flames are even worse over the flame tamers. I suggest they re-name the product to "Flame Encouragers". Please note... for the cost of a full set of 4 Flame Tamers... you're halfway to the cost of a complete Weber Genesis. A couple of problems with the grilling surface. Food sticks to it like crazy. I have not found a solution to this problem. Also, when the grill gets really hot (500 deg), the middle bar of each grate section bows up. Yup... just one of the bars in each of the 4 grate sections. They seem to go back to flat when the grill cools. The only thing I like about this grill... the appearance. It looks like a trophy sitting there. Stainless steel is great. Oh... and the grill gets hot in a hurry. That's not a requirement for me, but some people seem to think it's cool. I don't care who you are, the price is high. And for that you expect a better grilling experience. I took a step back with this grill. After my first few rough grilling experiences, I figured the problem was me. I just needed to get to know this grill. But now after several weeks, and a lot of grilling, I've determined that the product is just not up to par. And for this kind of money, even par isn't good enough!

High price for average grill

I built a new outdoor kitchen and wanted a good grill to build into it, one that would last me a long time. This grill is really beautiful and feels like a solid piece of equipment, however the actual performance leaves much to be desired. First thing is the heat settings are basically very low or searing hot, there isn't a middle ground. Also, the grill has more flare ups than any other grill I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot of them. Even the (much) cheaper cart grill I got at Lowes didn't flare up this badly. This grill comes with flame tamers which are supposed to help with flare ups, but they don't do anything at all. It doesn't matter how low or high the heat is under the food, there will be flare ups. And it isn't just on greasy food, it's in everything. I just grilled some very lean pork chops tonight that are quite blackened. Also, for some odd reason the knobs get very hot while cooking on the grill. So hot that you can't even touch them without a glove. Overall I feel this is an average grill at a very high price point. In this price range there are many more options I'd look at if I were able to do it over again. It feels like a high quality heavy duty grill, but doesn't actually cook well and that's the most important part.

The Skinny:

  • Built solid
  • Easy to use with a low learning curve
  • Affordably priced; great lifetime warranty

By: BBQGuys Staff

Things We Love:

If you're looking for an affordably priced premium grill, then Lion Premium Grills should definitely be considered. Lion grills are solidly built using 304 stainless steel and the hood is double-lined for extra durability. The grill comes with cast stainless burners that radiate heat well and tend to last longer than other burners.

One thing I like about Lion is that it's simple to use and has a lower learning curve than many other premium grills. The control panel is uncluttered and easy to operate, and the grill heats up quickly to get you grilling in no time.

Love the wonderful, smoky flavor of cooking with charcoal? As an upgrade option, you can add a charcoal tray to your Lion, giving you cooking versatility. The tray sits above the burners and the charcoal is lit by the burners, with no lighter fluid needed.

  • Lion also gives you the option to upgrade the included steel flame tamers to a ceramic rod flame taming system, which I highly recommend. The ceramic rods cover more grilling area and help to better distribute the heat across the entire grilling surface.

As a final upgrade option, you can purchase the interchangeable searing burner which can replace any of the standard burners. This gives you the option to customize your grills burner configuration any time you grill by simply swapping out the burners.

  • Ceramic Flame tamers being installed
Grill Master Randy installing ceramic flame tamers
  • Lion stands behind their grills with a great lifetime warranty, which covers the burners, cooking grids, and stainless steel frame and housing.

To top it off, Lion is currently including a grilling gourmet package when you buy their grill. The package gives you cool extras like a rotisserie kit, grill cover, smoker box, griddle, and griddle plate remover with bottle opener. Who doesn't love lagniappe (a little something extra)?

  • Cover, rotisserie, smoker box, and grate lifting tool shown
    Included Gourmet Grilling Package

Things to Consider:

While Lion offers a lot of upgrade options to consider, they are not included with the grill, which will add to the final price tag.

One upgrade I highly think you should consider is the grills flame tamers. By upgrading to the ceramic flame tamers, you will see a huge difference in the grills performance with a more evenly heated grill surface and minimal flare ups while cooking.

You'll Like This Grill If:

You're seeking an affordably priced premium grill with accessories and options that will thrill any griller.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
