Weber Original Kettle - America's #1 Charcoal Grill
For over 50 years, Weber has been a leader in the BBQ industry. Their Original Kettle grills are one of the most popular grills of all time, used by both amateur and professional chefs for decades. One-Touch grills are often imitated by others, but Weber offers a cooking experience that is unmatched by other brands. Here's a closer look at what makes the Weber Original Kettle America's #1 charcoal grill.
Durability
While there are many kettle style grills out there, don't be fooled by those knock-off brands. Weber kettle grills are made with superior construction and built to last for years. How does a Weber look great year after year? The porcelain-enamel coating is fired onto the bowl and lid at 1500° F, fusing the finish to the steel. This prevents the paint from flaking on the inside. Just clean with soapy water when necessary, and your grill will look like it's new.
Hinged Cooking Grid
Add charcoal or wood chunks like a pro, without lifting the grate or moving your food. Weber's steel grates are also easy to clean and provide years of dependable use. (Included with Premium models, but also available separately.)
Temperature Control
Weber kettle grills are precision engineered for perfect convection. Also, rust resistant dampers allow for easy control of the airflow into and out of the grill. Opening the dampers will allow the heat to rise, while closing the dampers will cause the fire to die out. Set the dampers in the middle and the grill will maintain a moderate constant cooking temperature necessary for slow cooking. Just add a little charcoal roughly each hour.
Ease of Cleaning
What makes a Weber so easy to clean? It's the One-Touch cleaning system. Simply sweep the ashes into the aluminum catch pan or the enclosed ash catcher (Premium models only).
Weber Kettle Grill FAQ
Why is Weber kettle so popular?
Some people joke that the Weber Kettle is "your grandfather's grill." Well, maybe Grandpa had the right idea! The Weber Original Kettle is probably the best-selling BBQ grill of all time. The timeless design, remarkable durability, and its ability to grill or smoke anything that fits has made the Weber Kettle a top grill for over 70 years.
Is the Weber Kettle grill a good smoker?
Yes! The Weber Kettle is designed for both grilling and smoking. While the kettles don't include the wifi connectivity of many high-end smokers, by using a Bluetooth or wifi grilling thermometer you can easily track your temperatures. The kettle has venting on the top and bottom to adjust airflow, and by using zone grilling techniques you can create a fantastic "low and slow" smoker.
Can you leave Weber kettle outside?
We recommend covering your Weber Kettle with a cover to help protect it from the weather, but you can certainly keep it outside. You may want to store it if you plan on not using it for several months during the winter, however.
What's the difference between Weber Jumbo Joe and original kettle?
The Jumbo Joe is a smaller, portable charcoal grill. It can do many things a Kettle is capable of, in a smaller, shorter form designed for grilling on-the-go.
Can you use lump charcoal in a Weber grill?
Absolutely! There are many seasoned grillers who will only use lump charcoal no matter what kind of grill they’re using. Our experts lean toward lump charcoal due to the lack of additives often found in briquettes. Both types are available at BBQGuys.com. Learn more about lump charcoal vs briquettes.
What is the standard size Weber kettle grill?
Weber Kettle grills are available in cooking diameters from 14" to 26", with the most common being the Weber "Original" Kettle at 22".
