Nice BBQ
This BBQ is awesome! Heats up VERY fast, even cooking, small smoker tray but still a great thing have. Lights everywhere are not only aesthetically pleasing but well placed to be functional. Would be 5 star, unfortunately there is some rusting/discolouring on the hood and the lids of the side shelves. The cooking grates became very discoloured after first use, as if had been used for 10 years without a cleaning. Maybe I just had the bad luck?

???
Main burners don't heat up as they should. Takes forever to get to temp. One other thing, how come magnets don't adhere to your "stainless steel" grills??

I would think real hard before I bought this unit
The grill is much more effected by the wind then they mention. If it is at all windy the unit just will not light. The manual references an additional wind guard so I will call, if I can get someone to answer and ask. Also I bought a griddle to fit on the grill. It was sent with absolutely no instructions, i.e. does it need "seasoning" andwhat is best way to clean. I again will call Napoleon to see if they can help

Rear burner and greaser catcher
Know the rear burners can bend the rack due to heat, so take out the rack before using the rear burner. Also the grease catcher tends to fall when moving grill so be aware when moving grill to different locations. Overall it's a good grill but not for the price.

Not built to last
We bought this bbq 17 months ago. I do enjoy cooking on it, but the ignitors are intermittent and the temperature gauge has just failed. It is covered under warranty, but we have to pay shipping - about half of the cost of the part. Our previous Weber cost less and lasted more than 10 years before requiring minor repairs. I am not impressed with Napoleon and would not recommend this to anyone who expects a product to last.

Good Grill with poor bolts
Grill comes in packaged well and assembly instructions are reasonably good. The worst part of the assembly is the poor bolts that are being used in this grill. I personally snapped (torque the head off) 2 bolts during the assembly stage. Which made for a lot of work to get the remaining threaded pieces out of the parts. The black bolts are absolutely too weak; just really poor quality. Because the bolts were so weak and soft I was able to drill a hole in the bolt piece that was stuck inside the grill and torque it out. I do have mechanical engineering degree so I was able to manage that but regular folks have no chance. Absolutely unacceptable bolt material choice for this premium grill. Assembly is the first stage of interacting with the grill and it did not leave a good taste in my mouth. I didn't like the plastic door handles nor the plastic knobs either. Rotisserie did not come with instructions so I have to dig this out from some other source. Everything else seems like good quality.

Quality issues
The cook box is amazing, the cart leaves some things to be desired. Main issue is quality control, my unit arrived with issues, mainly cosmetic from the factory.

Cooks great, decals/stickers peel easily
I bought my grill 3 years ago. It cooks great and I have no problems with that. The only thing I'm disappointed in is the decals/stickers surrounding the front burners and the front of the grill are peeling away. I take a lot of pride in owning a Napoleon, this does't look good when I'm bragging to my buddies about who has the best grill. Definitely something that Napoleon should address!
  • 3 years, still looks good

Disappointing First Big Upgrade Grill
Once we graduated and bought our first real house we decided that we should step up from the big box store grill (rhymes with stoke) we had been using. We went from ~$300 to this grill. This also included a move from propane bottles to a home propane tank (not natural gas). I've always worried our dislike of this grill was due to a pressure issue from the bigger tank compared to the small portable bottles that I don't understand. From the beginning we have struggled with the back being about 200 degrees hotter than the front of the grill. We consistently have flares that char ribeyes and NY strips if left alone (lid closed) for a 3 minute cycle over 500 degrees. We do fish on it at lower temps without an issue (great results). Since buying this grill I have developed a grill addiction. I use my Yoder, my PK, and my Egg all preferentially before I use my Napoleon. For our family (both parents with over full time healthcare jobs) the ease of propane has been trumped by other grills. The pellet grill heats up a little slower but isn't much harder to start (charcoal is still labor and time intensive to start) . All three of my other grills will cook hotter (I got my egg to >1100 once) if needed but the other three are all better at low and slow (if you have the time). This grill has been relegated to last minute fish and burger sliders. Overall...I wouldn't recommend this grill. I never thought I would be frustrated enough with the performance of propane to abandon its AWESOME ease of use. Honestly, this grill is converting me to a charcoal guy. I will work over 90 hours this week (thanks Covid)...I can't wait to fire up some smoke. I know there are more expensive propane grills that may be awesome, but this grill makes me reluctant to step up to a built in DCS, or Twin Eagle, Blaze, etc.

The Skinny:

  • Well-known brand name
  • Affordable price point
  • Reliable ignition system
  • Great accessories and storage features
  • Made in North America
  • Good warranty

Things We Love:

The Napoleon Prestige is a nice freestanding gas grill with innovative accessories and storage features. The Prestige series is available with an infrared rear burner and rotisserie. The P500 has an optional infrared “sizzle-zone” side burner. I love that when the side burner or ice bucket are not in use, the lid is flush - giving you full access to the side shelf space. You can also add a charcoal tray giving you different ways to cook. The Napoleon Prestige comes with blue backlit control knobs. The control knobs have SafetyGlow technology that changes the backlight color from blue to red when a burner is in use. I also really like Napoleon’s doubled lined “lift-ease” lid, which opens easily and helps hold in heat for optimal heat retention. The lid is hinged near the middle and, when open, adds hardly any depth to the back of the grill. This allows for easy placement in a variety of spaces.

Napoleon Prestige grills have stainless steel tube burners that are lit by a "Jetfire" electronic ignition. The P500 comes with stainless steel grates which have a patented wave design that creates unique sear marks to spread heat evenly, Napoleon has stainless steel sear plates. The plates also protect the burners and help reduce flare-ups.

The P500’s infrared “sizzle-zone” is a unique feature on this grill. Its grate is adjustable, allowing you to change the position of the grates. You can lower the grates to the burner for cooking with pots and pans as you would on a conventional side burner, or raise the grates to a higher position for searing meats like steak.

The Prestige 500 is also available in a built-in model, which would make a great centerpiece in your outdoor kitchen.

The warranty on the Prestige series is a standout in its class, having a lifetime warranty on the exterior housing, cooking grids, and porcelain enamel coated lid. Napoleon also boasts a 10 year + 5 warranty on their burners and flame tamers that provides replacement parts at a 50% of normal cost for 5 years after the 10 year warranty expires.

Available only for a limited time, consider Napoleon’s brand-new Phantom Prestige 500 gas grill. Everything you love about the Prestige 500 is here, but bathed in a sophisticated, stylish matte black finish. Love that reliable Napoleon JetFire electronic ignition? How about those four stainless steel tube burners topping out at a combined 48,000 BTUs? Even the 18,000 BTU rear infrared burner and 14,000 infrared side burner make it into this limited, special edition revision.

For all intents and purposes, this is the same grill with a phenomenal, unique design. But there are a few key upgrades: Phantom trades in stainless steel cooking grids for hardier cast stainless steel ones, at the cost of a mere 20 square inches of grilling space. (That’s a trade we’ll make any day.) Instead of stainless steel, the grill cart is now durable, rust and corrosion-resistant black steel. And, of course, that stainless finish has been swapped out for an eye-catching black design that’s sure to turn heads for seasons to come.

Thing To Consider:

While this grill is built tough, and backed by a strong warranty, Napoleon Prestige grills are not "all stainless steel", which is what many customers are shopping for nowadays. Along with the stainless steel components on the grill, you will also find cast aluminum and porcelain enameled steel components too, such as cart legs, back panels, etc.

Question:
How long do the lithium batteries that light the knobs last?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Dave, Sorry for the confusion, there is a battery pack underneath that runs the lights and the side burner. It uses 3 D batteries. The amount of time they last would depend on the usage and environment.

Question:
Obviously the rotisserie needs to be plugged into an outlet, but what powers the lit control knobs? Battery or plug in?

Hey Bob! There are mini lithium batteries on the inside of the knobs. Hope this information helps!

Free Shipping on orders over $49

When Will My Item Arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3–5 business days. If your item or order is large, it may ship via one of our third-party freight carriers, which deliver from semi trucks with lift gates. Freight delivery is much more complicated than standard parcel shipping — you must schedule a drop-off time, be present for the delivery, and move items from the curb to your residence, among other differences. Sound stressful? If you prepare in advance with our guide to freight delivery, it doesn’t have to be.

We strongly encourage reading the entire freight delivery guide, but here’s a quick snapshot of what you need to be ready for when you order a large package:

  • Your freight carrier will call you to schedule a delivery window of about 4–8 hours
  • You’re required to be physically present at the specified delivery location during the scheduled window
  • Freight shipments are carried in semi trucks, which have lift gates to assist with unloading
  • Freight deliveries are dropped off at the curb and no further — not up the driveway, not the porch, not the garage, and most definitely not the backyard — so it’s on you to transport packages to their intended location
  • For an easier time hauling items to your home or backyard, arrange for at least 2 helpers to be on standby during your delivery window
  • You must sign for the shipment to indicate that you’ve accepted the delivery

Again, we recommend reading our entire breakdown of freight delivery so you can become familiar with the process. Trust us when we say that getting caught off guard with the strict requirements of freight delivery can lead to a whole lot of headaches.

No Restocking Fee

Most companies charge a restocking fee. We just don't do business that way.

Message to our customers: Like all retailers and manufacturers, we’re currently experiencing well-publicized supply-chain issues and steel shortages that have caused some orders to be delayed. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences arising from this situation, and we assure you we’re making every effort to solve these problems with our vendors and logistical partners.

So, why are some orders being affected? Major ports around the world are still operating at reduced capacity because of COVID-19 restrictions — on average, container boats sit at port for about 3 weeks before being unloaded. Combine these shipping inefficiencies with a scarcity of natural resources, and virtually every industry has been crippled to some degree. Yet we acknowledge that it’s our duty to meet these challenges head-on and work toward solutions so you can enjoy more time outdoors with the people you love. We appreciate your patience as we strive to smooth out our supply chain, and we thank you for choosing us for your grilling and outdoor living needs.
