I have had my Meco Smoker since November 2005

Makes great smoked Turkey or whatever you want to put in it. I cover the water pan in foil for easy cleanup. I have had to replace the controller as well as the heating element a time or two in the last 17 years. But just follow the instructions and this thing gets the job done easily.

Awesome Smoker!

No wood or charcoal to buy! Just plug in in and add some soaked mesquite or you favorite chips to the pan below the heating element. We love it, and ours is now two years old and looks great! Not a spec of rust on it as its made with a heavier gauge metal than others. I like it because I can remove the top portion and use the bottom as a grill. I would recommend it to all my friends and family. I just bought another for my mother and sister which commented on how good the smoked loin was that we cooked for them on ours! Glad they finally came back in stock so I could snag one!

Excellent smoker

Smoker came within a few days. Put it together and it is smoking like a champ. Love the large pan for water. soup, broth, etc. to help flavor the meat. Excellent smoker for the cost. A must have to compliment other grills in your outdoor kitchen.

Question:
What are the advantages / disadvantages / limitations of a "water" smoker. What's different? ?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Kirby. The biggest advantage of a water pan during smoking is to help meats retain moisture during long "low and slow" cooking. The water pan can also be filled with other flavor-inducing liquids besides water.

Question:
Is there a cover that comes with the item or can one be purchased through your website?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Tim T. Meco does not make covers for the Americana smokers.

Question:
I have always been intereted in an electric smoker, but thus far havev only used charcoal/wood. What is the recommended clean-up procedure for electric? Thanks!
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Gadget Guy. Maintenance on electric smokers is typically minimal, simply remove the ash left from smoldering wood - I typically have used a shop-type vacuum to clean them out.

Question:
My meco heating element is bad. It is 14" in diameter but your replacement elements say they are 16.8" in diameter. My meco smoker is 16.8" in diameter, so obviously a 16.8" elementary would be too big. Do you have a 14" element?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Darryl. We do not have a smaller Meco element for your smoker. You might want to reach out directly to Meco with your model number - 800-251-7558

Question:
can u fit a turkey or ham in this? say about a 12 ib turkey or a 8 -9 lb ham?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi, David. Depending on the physical size of the foods, as long as they fit on the 15-inch diameter grate, it will work.

Question:
Would it be possible to have it assembled prior to delivery?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi, Mary. Unfortunately we cannot assemble this before shipping.

Question:
What are the temperatures for the settings of low, medium, and high
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi, Lis. Due to several variables, like wind or ambient temperature, Meco does not list specific temperatures for these settings. They strongly recommend using a meat thermometer when smoking meats and poultry.

Question:
Can I use Wood Chunks instead of Chips? I used to use a Brinkman Gourmet Electric Smoker for 20 years and it's heating coil just disintegrated two days ago. It was the BEST vertical electric smoker I have ever used. However, the company went out of business 3 years ago and I can't find a replacement heating coil for it. This is why I'm turning to you. Your Smoker looks exactly like my broken smoker. I've seen in your photos that it uses wood chips. I personally would rather use wood chunks. Please tell me that this smoker can use wood chunk as well as wood chips, okay? I look forward to your answer.
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hello! Yes, you may use wood chunks instead of chips. I hope this helps!

Question:
I can see one tab to lift with on the upper door. Do both doors open at the same time or will they open separately?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Glenn, both doors on the Americana smoker are attached to the one lever tab and will open at the same time.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we’ve all come to expect for small parcels, so it’s important that you’re prepared and understand what’s required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We’ll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can’t be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we’ve only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don’t require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren’t required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you’re home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you’re out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
