This is a replacement grill for my old Scout that failed and could not be repaired. My hat is oft the support that I received from Traeger in attempting to repair the old one. after numerous attempts, Traeger elected to send a new grill, the old one one was at least 2 years old. we have used the scout for traveling and have had good success with a learning curve. the temperature is not very accurate so after a few trials, you can adapt to the issues or complain. it is easier the adapt site this small grill cannot be expected to match the larger ones. aim well pleased with varying items I have cooked and will continue to recommend the Traeger grill to folks, It does provide a unique flavor to the foods and if your needs are to have a portable smoker then the scout is possibly a good choice.

We purchased the Scout 3 months ago. We have cooked steak, pork chops, shrimp, and chicken on it. It is so easy to use and the food is amazing on it.

This is my second Traeger and overall it is an awesome little grill for camping. I have a select pro and now this so even if im cooking for two people I use my Scout because its easier and smaller. If I were to change 3 things. Number 1: the weight! It isn't the lightest for being a travel Grill. Number 2: the temperature is so hard to maintain set it at 250 and sometimes its over 400 (i don't have any issues with my other Traeger with this) Number 3: the rubber caps over the feet constantly fall off I already lost 2 while traveling.

I have only had the grill a few days. I have used it three times and everything came out great. My only issue so far is how the digital display thermostat is all over the place on temperature . I am assuming the probe is in the firebox. Where ever it is - it needs to be moved for that display. I bought a thermostat for grills and put on lid. That thermostat shows temperature to be accurate and consistent with temp setting on dial.

I just got the Scout as a Xmas gift. I set the temp at 225 after seasoning the grill and following the pellet instructions. The temp probe showed 145 meat was till raw. Also the temp never stayed at 225. It went from 353 down to 119. How do I correct this?
I set up the grill the way the booklet says - start with the lid closed - never worked for me. It would just smoke a lot and would never get to the desired temp. I tried with the lid open for some time and then close it - worked. Temp control is still an issue - swings a lot and never comes to set range. When set to, say 300, it would stay in 350+ only. Veg food is very temp sensitive and burns quickly with a slight swing - so this grill is not working for me. The pit / hopefully I'm calling it correct / where wood burns is small and have less appetite for ash so operation time can not exceed beyond a couple of hours. Another bummer. I was very excited about the idea of an automated grill and really liked the outcome but seems like need a better device.

Temp issues on our SCOUT... Temp jumps around to much. Very disappointed!! On a recent camping trip I stepped aside for a couple minutes to grab burger toppings and buns, the temp jumped, caught the grease dripping on fire. TOTAL MESS!! Had to install a new power cord because it melted the original, burgers turned into hockey pucks. After the fact the unit needed a major cleaning! (This was not the first time, however, the worst) If I baby set it its good, but thats not the idea. I wish I had got the RANGER instead. My buddy has one and loves it... no issues. Looking to purchase the Timberline series soon... hope I have no issues.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
