DCS Grill Expert Review
History of DCS (Dynamic Cooking Systems)DCS, a division of Fisher & Paykel Appliances, began in the late 1980's as the country's leading engineers and designers of the first line of high-end, commercial quality appliances for the home. Soon after, they expanded their business to offer both indoor and outdoor kitchen solutions, by pioneering the first high-end professional grill. Performance, customization, simplicity, ease of use and installation are what sets apart the DCS brand. All of the capabilities of an indoor kitchen can now be experienced in an outdoor setting.

Cooking PerformanceThe combination of grilling, rotissing, and smoking makes the DCS grill one of the most versatile grills in the industry. From steak and chicken to ribs and fish, this grill will cook anything. It is easy to start, heats up fast, and outperforms most high-end grills on the market. The ceramic rods help to evenly distribute the heat across the grilling surface (leaving no hot or cold spots) while mimicking the heat from an infrared burner producing those perfect sear marks that everyone loves. By adjusting the temperature, it can reach awesome highs for steaks and reach impressive lows for vegetables.
Overall ImpressionThings That Stand Out:
The quality craftsmanship of these grills are absolutely amazing. The sleek and stylish appearance is sure to "Wow" any person who lays eyes on it. The outer body is built like a rock with high-quality 304 stainless steel. The inner components feature thick 14 gauge stainless steel burners that produce 25,000 BTU's per burner, dual sided cast stainless steel grids, 18,000 BTU ceramic infrared burner with heavy duty rotisserie that can hold up to 50lbs, removable stainless steel warming rack, and a smoker box with a dedicated 3,500 BTU straight tube burner to add extra flavors to your food.
The heavy duty cast stainless steel cooking grids are the key to DCS's patented Grease Management System. These "W" channeled cooking grids are angled slightly forward, the drippings are able to move away from the food into the drip pan. This design allows the excess grease, that normally falls down to the burner causing flare-ups, to instead drain away from the flames and into the drip tray for easy disposal. This process cooks the food better and faster without drying it out.
Unlike most grills, DCS has ceramic radiant rods attached to the cast stainless steel cooking grids rather than ceramic briquettes that fall off all the time. The ceramic rods are removable and easy to clean by simply rolling around to get the excess gunk off or removing the entire tray, turning it over, and setting the burners on high for 30 minutes.
If you like those perfect little sear marks on your food, you will love the DCS grill. The DCS grill is specifically designed to operate without a sear burner while other grills either come standard with one or is offered as an upgrade. The starting temperature for searing is around 900°F, the DCS is capable of reaching temperatures up to 1,000°F. Also, most infrared burners can only go 400°F - 500°F but the DCS can reach incredible lows of 200°F - 300°F. These features allow you to sear steak and cook vegetables simultaneously. This makes a huge difference when entertaining 20-100.
The ignition is powered by a 9-Volt battery that starts by to turning the control knob to "Sear" while holding the electronic push-button ignition. In case the battery goes out, you can use a match or butane lighter to light the flash tube system.
