Great price point; looks attractive; large grilling area; super heat output.
Things to Love:
Cal Flame G-series grills are attractive and inexpensive, with a generous grilling area. The grill comes with porcelain-coated cast iron burners that produce high heat and do a good job at distributing heat evenly across the grill. The stainless steel flame tamers cover the burners and do a decent job at minimizing flare-ups.
The durable stainless steel grates are thicker than other grills in its class offer and the v-pattern will leave distinctive sear marks on your food.
Another selling point is the number of outdoor kitchen accessories that Cal Flame produces, which allows you to match your whole outdoor kitchen. Without question, the price point is great, and offers extra options to upgrade.
Things to Consider:
Cal Flame G-series grills are constructed with a 430 stainless steel exterior body which is a step down from more the durable 304 exterior body found on most grills in this price range. 430 stainless does not have the rust resistance of 304, and it requires more attention to maintain its appearance. In order to keep the grill affordable, Cal Flame uses 430 stainless steel on their G-series grills.
The main burners are made of cast iron, which is great for indoor cookware but prone to rust deterioration as an outdoor gas grill burner. The G-series lacks a rear infrared burner, that some grillers expect to be standard. The grill has a rotisserie kit option but since it lacks a rear burner, it won't perform the same as a grill with a rear rotisserie burner.
Cal Flame offers a one year warranty on this grill. Most gas grills in this price range offer longer warranties, especially on the burners.
