Unique convection cooking means even heating & faster cooking; cast stainless burners require less maintenance; v-shaped cooking grids keep foods from falling through; full line of outdoor accessories.
Things To Love:
The Cal Flame Convection series looks like a professional grill, with seamless 304 stainless steel construction and a signature one-piece welded handle. Inside the grill, Cal Flame offers a huge grilling area and their exclusive “v-grate” cooking grid which is designed to keep smaller food from falling through the grid.
Cal Flame's convection series are the only grills in the industry with a 110 volt convection fan built in. This feature is designed to provide an even heating grill surface. I found this greatly speeds up cooking time and adds a noticeable bump in performance compared with entry level Cal Flame grills.
In a major upgrade from their “G-series” grill, Cal Flame includes cast stainless steel burners and an infrared rotisserie burner on all Convection series grills. Cast stainless burners are usually found on high-end grills, because they are durable and have high heat characteristics. The grill also includes a ceramic rotisserie burner with motor and spit rod capable of turning 35 pounds of meat. I like that the versatile rotisserie kit allows you to mount the motor on the left or right side of the grill.
Things To Consider:
Flavor bars are the only protection against flare-ups, and there are gaps where drippings could fall through the grates. While this grill doesn't excel at preventing flare-ups the flavor bars definitely help keep flare-ups at a minimal level. The v-shaped cooking grids have a slight disadvantage because they are harder to clean than other grids which run front to back.
