The Broan 88000-Series under-counter range hood features 360 CFM when used with a 3 1/4 by 10 inch vertical discharge, and 350 CFM with a 3 1/4 by 10 inch horizontal discharge, or can be installed as a non-ducted unit, using the recirculating filter sold separately. The quiet 6. 0 sone 360 CFM dual centrifugal blower is controlled with an infinite speed slide control that has a memory feature, but the standard Heat Sentry will increase the blower speed to high if it detects excessive heat. The 75-watt incandescent lighting features two level light control while the aluminum grease filters are dishwasher safe. Includes a 3 1/4 by 10 inch damper/adapter, but light bulbs are not included.

| difficult to keep clean; light switch flimsyWe have had one of these hoods for years. The alcoves --the hollow areas on either side of the blower up above the filters-- are impossible to keep clean. Also, oil and grease collects in the wells at the bottom of the filters, and the metal is sharp there, so it is easy to cut your fingers when wiping out those wells. A better design would eliminate nooks and crannies to make it as easy as possible to keep clean. The sliding on/off switch for lights is plastic and with repetitive use will one day snap, and it's expensive and a pain to repair, requiring complete disassembly of the unit and the purchase of an entire assembly, not just the broken part. That front panel should simply snap out to make such a repair, but it doesn't. The fan is relatively noisy when vented out the rear and running at or near top speed. It doesn't do a great job removing smoke such as when grilling a steak at a fairly high heat. The two small bulbs are in the front, and so the rear of the cooktop is not well lit. We bought the unit because of its size (33") but then Broan discontinued that size in the lineup. | Was This Helpful? |
