The concept of a kamado grill is not new, they have been used for over 3,000 years. Kamados are usually round in design and originally were constructed of clay. Over time, the design evolved and today most kamado-style grills are made of ceramics. The ceramic composition has many advantages, ceramics retain moisture and heat extremely well, locking flavor inside the grill, leaving food juicy and tender.
Primo entered the industry making a traditional round kamado-style grill, similar to the Big Green Egg®. While these grills are very popular, Primo knew the design could be improved. They decided to combine the concept of a kamado-style grill with an innovative and versatile design, using premium materials. The Primo Oval was born, which is a best in class, revolutionary grill. The oval shape is more accommodating to large cuts of meat, in addition to large cooking pans.
Primo also introduced a large assortment of accessories to maximize the full potential of the patented oval design. For example, the optional extended cooking rack adds additional cooking levels to the grill, increasing the total grilling area. Ceramic heat deflector plates are also available, and when used with the optional drip pan racks, true indirect cooking is achieved. Add the firebox divider, and cook directly over the heat on one side and smoke on the other. No other kamado grills offer this type of versatility.
Primo oval grills are available in two sizes, the Oval XL and Oval Jr. Each grill is made from premium grade ceramics and coated with a porcelain glaze for added protection. The ceramics won't rust or crack and are perfectly suited for an outdoor environment. The company founder and leaders oversee the manufacturing process, ensuring each grill meets Primo quality standards.
